Our outdoor classroom is focused on nature, creativity, and an emergent curriculum that promotes and inspires a connection with nature. We work to create a warm environment where a child feels comfortable to take risks and is empowered to express themselves through learning and playing.
We are proud to offer:
Nature infused learning spaces: Our classroom features many different areas that inspire hands-on exploration including sensory bins, a sound wall, mud kitchen, water wall, fairy house, and dramatic play area. These spaces encourage curiosity and creativity while fostering a connection with nature.
Outdoor exploration: Daily opportunities for nature walks, gardening, running, climbing, and free play.
Emergent curriculum: Lessons and activities that are guided by the children's interests and the seasonal changes. We work to encourage resilience, creativity, and independence with a focus on activities that celebrate seasonal changes, weather, and the local ecosystem.
Creativity and child-led play: Open ended art projects and storytelling in our dramatic play area help create many opportunities for imaginative play and collaboration for social-emotional growth.
ROCS Mornings
Fledgling Program
The ROCS morning program takes place from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm daily. Children enrolled in the Fledgling program attend independently, must be potty-trained through age 6. Families may choose to enroll two days (Tues/Thurs or Mon/Wed), or three days (Mon/Wed/Fri). In some cases single day enrollment may also be available. The Fledgling program includes a play-based learning model and nature exploration. There is a daily beginning and ending circle time, snack and story time, and nature walks. The cost is $180/month for two days and $240/month for three days.
Hatchling Program
Children who are walking but not yet potty trained are welcome to attend with their caregiver and participate fully in the morning program by enrolling in the Hatchling program. Participants of the Hatchling program must register and enroll their child in order to reserve a guaranteed spot with the school. Families may choose to enroll two days (Tues/Thurs or Mon/Wed) or three days (M/W/F). A limited number of single day enrollment options may also be available. The cost is $45/month for one day, $90/month for two days, and $120/month for three days.
Morning program attendance on days other than those that the child is enrolled is not permitted unless it is scheduled as a Drop-In day. There is no charge for siblings under 18 months who attend with caregivers and registered participants.
Drop-Ins
Children of both the Fledgling and Hatchling age are welcome as Drop-In participants. Registration is required for Drop-in participants prior to attendance. Drop-in spots are not guaranteed and are available on a first come, first serve basis. Once registered, participants can reserve their spot up to a week in advance with the Program Director. The cost for Hatchlings and Fledglings Drop-In is $30/day and is paid on or before the day of attendance.
